March 6 and 7, 2019 at the Palais des Académies in Brussels

In his speech on March 20, 2018, the President of the French Republic called for a "major event" project" in Brussels as an important element of the mobilization in favor of multilingualism and the French-speaking world, particularly in European institutions.

The French Embassy in Belgium, the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe invite you to the Brussels Day of Multilingualism and Francophonie, to be held at the Palais des Académies on March 6 and 7.

This high-level meeting will take up the four themes of the previous conferences in the multi-year cycle " Le monde en archipel" ("The World in Archipelago ") initiated by the Alliance française and its partners, have identified as major challenges and issues for multilingualism and the French language:

1) What solutions can be found to the language of law and international negotiations?

2) How can the digital revolution strengthen multilingualism and the French-speaking world?

3) How can the media combat unilingualism?

4) Culture, research, publishing: the battle for non-English publications.

Work will begin on March 6 at 6pm, and four round tables will take up these themes on March 7, 2019.

The Brussels Multilingualism and Francophonie Day will aim to formulate concrete, operational proposals (for public policies, private initiatives, partnerships, initiatives...) to strengthen multilingualism and the use of the French language.

Entrepreneurs will also be on hand during the breaks and lunch on March 7 to present digital solutions for language learning, translation and interpretation.

Please find attached the provisional program. We'd be delighted to answer any questions you may have about the day.

As the number of places is limited, we invite you to register as soon as possible via the online registration form.
